The Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights has published two new factsheets this month on its website. The first relates to Pilot Judgments, The second to Excessive Length of Proceedings. Apart from specific information introducing each topic, the factsheets contain overviews of implementation of judgments by states – very useful overviews for those interested in what happens to judgments after they have been delivered. The full page includes dozens of factsheets on themes ranging from climate to migration, and from prison conditions to domestic violence cases.
On the same topic of execution of judgments, last week the third annual meeting of the National Execution Coordinators Network took place in Berlin. This network was created in 2024 and brings together national coordinators for the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. In a kind of peer exchange process, it aims to both help states to learn from each other in executing judgments and to increase communication channels between them and the Execution department at the Council of Europe.
